A SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is a short alphanumeric code a business assigns to a product or product variant to track it internally — in inventory software, a warehouse, or a sales channel like Shopify or Etsy. Unlike a barcode or UPC, a SKU is chosen by the seller, not a standards body, so its format is entirely up to you.
How does this tool build each SKU?

It combines your optional prefix with truncated segments from the category, product name, and attribute you enter for each row (e.g. "Blue-M"), joined by the separator you choose. Turn on sequence numbers to append a running count instead of relying on the text alone to keep codes unique.
Can I generate SKUs for a whole product catalog at once?

Yes — add a row per product (or per variant), and every row generates its own SKU live as you type. When you're done, download the CSV — it includes the product name, category, attribute, and generated SKU in separate columns, ready to paste into a spreadsheet or bulk-upload to your sales platform.
What if two products generate the same SKU?
