Take the CPS test in three steps
- 1
Pick a test length
Choose 5, 10 or 30 seconds. Shorter tests favour bursts, longer ones show how well you hold your speed.
- 2
Click the box to start
The timer starts on your first click, and every click inside the box counts until time runs out.
- 3
Read your score
Your result is total clicks divided by the test length. Your best score for each length is saved on this device.
Why people test their click speed
Clicks per second is a simple number, which makes it useful for comparing mice, techniques and your own progress.
Comparing mice
Test two mice back to back and see whether the click feel makes a measurable difference.
Practising click techniques
Track whether jitter or butterfly clicking is actually improving your score over days.
Warming up before a game
A few rounds loosen your hand before a click-heavy game.
Frequently asked questions
How is CPS calculated?
+
Clicks per second is your total number of clicks divided by the length of the test in seconds. 50 clicks in a 10-second test is 5.00 CPS. The test always divides by the full length, not the time of your last click, so scores stay comparable.
What is a good CPS score?
+
Most people land somewhere around 5 to 7 clicks per second with normal clicking. Scores above that usually come from practised techniques such as jitter clicking or butterfly clicking. Longer tests give lower numbers because it is hard to hold a burst speed.
Why is my score lower on the 30-second test?
+
Fatigue. Your hand can sustain a sprint for a few seconds but not for half a minute, so the 30-second average is almost always lower than the 5-second one. Compare scores only within the same test length.
Does my mouse or touchpad change the result?
+
Yes. A light gaming mouse with a short click travel is easier to click quickly than a heavy mouse or a laptop touchpad. On a phone or tablet the test counts taps instead of mouse clicks.
Is the timer accurate?
+
It uses the browser's high-resolution clock, so the timing is precise to about a millisecond. The browser can still add a little delay between a physical click and the page seeing it, and that delay is the same for every test.
Where is my best score saved?
+
Only in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, and clearing your site data clears the scores.
