Why convert a PDF page to PNG instead of JPG?

PNG is lossless, so text, line art, and diagrams stay pixel-perfect with no compression artifacts — and unlike JPG, PNG supports transparency if your PDF page has a transparent or non-white background. JPG is usually the better choice for photo-heavy pages since it produces smaller files.
Will the PNG file be bigger than the original PDF page?
