Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.
Line numbers for both versions
Every row shows its line number in the original and the changed text.
Copy or download
Take the diff with you as plain text, with + and - markers on each changed line.
Compare two texts in three steps
- 1
Paste the original text
Put the older version in the left box. It can be code, a contract, a config file or any plain text.
- 2
Paste the changed text
Put the newer version in the right box. The differences show up below as you type.
- 3
Read, copy or download the diff
Added lines are green, removed lines are red. Copy the diff or download it as a .txt file.
Built for code, contracts and edits
A diff checker answers one question: what changed between these two versions? It compares line by line, so a single edited word shows up as one line removed and one added.
Comparing code or config
See exactly what changed between two versions of a script, SQL query or settings file.
Checking contract revisions
Spot the clauses that were added or reworded between two drafts of an agreement.
Reviewing edited writing
Compare an article, essay or email before and after an edit.
Verifying copies match
Confirm two exports, logs or lists are identical, or find the one line that is not.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compare two pieces of text?
+
Paste the original into the left box and the changed version into the right box. The tool lines the two up and marks every line that was added or removed, with line numbers from both versions.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
+
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent to a server or stored, so it is safe to use on private code and documents.
What does a diff checker show?
+
It shows which lines were added, which were removed and which stayed the same. A line you edited appears as the old line removed and the new line added.
Can I ignore case or whitespace differences?
+
Yes. Tick "Ignore case" to treat Hello and hello as the same, and "Ignore whitespace" to skip differences in spaces, tabs and indentation.
Does it compare files or folders?
+
No. This tool compares pasted text line by line. To compare a file, open it and paste its contents. Folder and image comparison are not supported.
Is there a size limit?
+
There is no fixed limit, but very large inputs (hundreds of thousands of lines) can be slow because the comparison runs on your device.
