Yes — every voice, unlimited generations, no account, no watermark, no daily cap. The model runs on your own device, so there's no per-use server cost for us to recoup by rationing it.
No. The voice model downloads once to your browser (about 90MB, cached after the first use), and every generation after that runs entirely on your device using WebGPU or WebAssembly. Your text never reaches a server.
Honestly, not as good — those are large server-side models with far more parameters and per-voice cloning. This runs an 82-million-parameter model locally in your browser, which sounds natural for drafts, accessibility, prototyping, and short narration, but isn't broadcast-grade. If you need studio-quality output, a paid service will beat it; if you need something free and instant with no upload, this is built for that.
Yes. The underlying Kokoro model is released under the Apache 2.0 license, which permits commercial use of its output with no attribution requirement.
English only, in American and British accents (28 voices total). There's no language switcher because there's nothing to switch to yet — support for other languages would be a separate future addition.
No — this offers fixed preset voices only. Voice cloning raises real impersonation and consent questions that need their own review, so it's deliberately out of scope here rather than something we half-built.
The first click downloads the ~90MB voice model to your browser. Your browser caches it after that, so every generation afterward — including on a later visit — starts almost immediately.
The underlying model has a hard limit on how much text it can turn into speech in a single pass. Rather than silently cutting off anything longer without telling you, the counter stops you at a length the model can fully speak. For longer scripts, generate it in a few pieces.
