How to Delete Pages from a PDF, Free & Private
Delete pages from a PDF by clicking thumbnails, free in your browser with no upload or account. Includes the one rule: you can't delete every page.
Delete pages in four clicks
Open the Delete PDF Pages tool, drop your PDF on the page, and wait a second while it draws a thumbnail of every page. Click each page you want gone. It gets a mark, and a counter above the grid shows how many pages are marked out of the total. Then press the Delete button and download the new PDF.
There is no account, no watermark and no upload. The work happens inside your browser tab, so a contract, a payslip or a medical form never reaches a server. That also means it works on any device with a modern browser: Windows, Mac, Chromebook, or a phone.
You can't delete every page
The Delete button switches off when every page is marked, and a notice tells you a PDF needs at least one page. If you are removing nearly everything, flip the job around: it is faster to keep a few pages than to mark dozens.
Use Extract PDF Pages for that. You pick the pages to keep and get a new file containing only those, in ascending page order whatever order you clicked them in. Deleting 46 pages of a 50-page report is four clicks in Extract and forty-six in Delete. The result is the same file.
What happens to the deleted pages
The tool opens your file with pdf-lib, removes the marked pages starting from the highest page number and working down, then saves a fresh copy. Going from the bottom up matters: removing page 2 first would turn page 5 into page 4 and you would delete the wrong one.
Your original file is never touched, so keep it until you have checked the result. In a quick test with a five-page text PDF, deleting three pages cut the file from 3.4 KB to 2.1 KB, so the removed pages' data goes with them. Images or fonts still used by pages you kept stay in the file, so a PDF full of shared images will not shrink much.
Windows, Mac and phone without Acrobat
On a Mac, Preview can delete pages: show thumbnails, select a page and press Delete. Windows has no built-in tool for this, and many phone PDF viewers only let you read, not edit.
A browser tool covers all of these the same way, with no install. If you also want to change page order, run the result through [Rearrange PDF Pages](/rearrange-pdf-pages) afterwards, as described in [how to reorder pages in a PDF](/blog/how-to-reorder-pages-in-a-pdf).
When deleting is the wrong move
Deleting a page removes it completely, which is fine for hiding a whole page. But blacking out a line on a page you are keeping is a different job, and drawing a box over text does not remove the text underneath. Use [redaction](/blog/how-to-permanently-redact-a-pdf) for that.
If you want each chunk as its own file instead, see [how to split a PDF](/blog/how-to-split-pdf-files). If the deleted pages left your page numbers out of order, [number PDF pages](/blog/number-pdf-pages-skip-cover-page) shows how to add them again, cover page skipped.
