Compress Video for Email

Most major providers, including Gmail and Outlook, cap attachments at 25MB total per message. That limit is long-stable and applies to the whole message, not just the video — so leave a little headroom if you're also attaching other files.

Your provider rejected the message because the attachment (or the total message including it) exceeded its limit. Compressing to a target size under 25MB before attaching avoids the bounce entirely, instead of finding out after sending.

For a video that's naturally long or high-resolution, a cloud storage link (Google Drive, Dropbox) often makes more sense than compressing hard enough to force it under 25MB. But for a short clip, compressing to fit the attachment limit keeps everything in one email with no extra link to manage.

It depends on the source length — the longer the video, the less bitrate the 25MB budget leaves per second. For a short clip (under a minute), 25MB is usually enough for a clean result. For anything longer, try a lower max resolution to keep more visual quality within the same size budget.
