Built for designers, developers, and makers

An image color picker turns a color you can see in a photo into a code you can paste. PixelTools gives you HEX, RGB, and HSL plus the dominant palette, with no upload and no account.

Match a brand or UI color

Pull the exact HEX from a logo, screenshot, or mockup so your CSS matches it.

Build a palette from a photo

Use the dominant colors of a photo as the starting point for a website, slide deck, or poster.

Match paint, fabric, or products

Photograph something, load the picture, and click to get a code you can compare against swatches.

Check colors on the go

Frequently asked questions

How do I pick a color from an image?

+

Upload the image, then click the spot whose color you want. The tool shows that pixel's HEX, RGB, and HSL values, and you can copy any of them with one click.

What are the dominant colors?

+

They are the five colors that cover most of your image. Similar shades are merged so you get five distinct colors rather than five blues, and each one shows the percentage of the image it represents.

Is the color exact?

+

Yes, it is the exact value of the pixel you click, as your browser decodes it. Very large images are scaled down to fit a 2,400 pixel working size first, so a pixel in a huge photo can be an average of its neighbours.

Does it work with transparent PNGs?

+

Yes. Fully transparent pixels have no color, so clicking one picks nothing, and they are left out of the dominant colors.

Which image formats are supported?

+

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, and HEIC/HEIF photos from iPhones.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

+

No. The image is read entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
