Frequently asked questions
Is PixelTools image resizer free?
+
Yes, completely free with no limits. Resize as many images as you want, to any dimensions, as often as you want. No subscription, no trial, no account required.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
+
No. PixelTools resizes images entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device — there is no server upload, no cloud processing, and no data stored anywhere.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
+
Yes. Drop or select as many images as you need — they are all resized with the same settings in batch. Download each file individually or all at once as a ZIP archive.
What is the difference between Contain, Cover, and Stretch?
+
Cover scales your image to fill the target dimensions entirely, cropping the excess from the center. Contain fits the entire image inside the target dimensions with no cropping, adding a background fill to the empty space. Stretch forces the image to exactly match the target dimensions, which may distort the image if the aspect ratio differs.
What image formats are supported?
+
PixelTools supports JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC as input. You can output to JPG, PNG, or WebP. HEIC images from iPhone are automatically converted before resizing.
Can I resize to any custom dimensions?
+
Yes. Enter any width and height in pixels from 1 to 9999. You can also use the aspect ratio lock to proportionally scale your image, or pick from the social media presets for common dimensions.
How do I resize an image for Instagram?
+
Switch to the Instagram tab in the presets section. Click 'Square' for a 1080×1080 post, 'Portrait' for a 1080×1350 post, 'Story / Reel' for a 1080×1920 story, or 'Profile' for a 320×320 profile photo. The dimensions are applied instantly.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
+
For JPG and WebP output, the quality slider lets you control compression. The default 92% quality is near-lossless — virtually indistinguishable from the original. PNG output is always lossless. Resizing itself does not degrade quality beyond what the output format and quality setting dictate.
