Everything you need to generate app icons online
Every size in one zip
Get the full iPhone, iPad and App Store 1024px set, plus Android launcher icons for every screen density and the 512px Google Play icon.
Xcode-ready iOS folder
The iOS icons come as an AppIcon.appiconset with the Contents.json that Xcode expects, so you can drag the folder into your asset catalog.
Android mipmap folders
Icons are named ic_launcher.png and sorted into mipmap-mdpi through mipmap-xxxhdpi, matching the res folder layout in Android Studio.
Opaque iOS icons, transparent Android icons
Apple rejects App Store icons with transparency, so iOS icons are filled with white or black. Android icons keep their transparent edges.
100% private
Your artwork is resized on your device. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for an unreleased app.
Free, no account
No signup, no watermark and no limits. Drop an image and download the set in seconds.
Three steps to a full app icon set
- 1
Add your icon image
Drag and drop a PNG, JPG or WebP onto the page, or click to browse. A square 1024 x 1024 PNG gives the sharpest results. The image is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- 2
Pick your platforms
Choose iOS and Android, or just one of them. For iOS, pick the background color that fills any transparent area, since App Store icons can't be see-through.
- 3
Download the icon set
Download one zip with every size. The iOS folder is an AppIcon.appiconset with its Contents.json, ready to drop into Xcode. The Android folder has the mipmap folders plus the 512px Play Store icon.
Built for app developers and designers
Whether you are shipping a first app, rebranding an existing one, or building a prototype, PixelTools creates every icon size instantly with no upload required.
Shipping a first app
Skip hand-exporting 19 sizes from a design file. One 1024px image becomes every icon Xcode and Android Studio ask for.
Updating an app's branding
Rebranded logo? Regenerate the full set from the new artwork and replace the old files in one go.
Prototypes and side projects
Get believable icons into a prototype or TestFlight build quickly, without opening a design tool.
Store submissions
Produce the 1024px App Store icon and the 512px Google Play icon from the same source, so both stores match.
Frequently asked questions
Is the app icon generator free?
+
Yes, completely free with no limits. No account, no subscription, no watermark.
Does my image get uploaded to a server?
+
No. The icons are created in your browser, so your artwork never leaves your device.
What size should my source image be?
+
Use a square PNG at 1024 x 1024 pixels or larger. Smaller images still work, but the big icons will be enlarged and look soft. A non-square image is cropped to a centered square.
Which iOS icon sizes do I get?
+
The full iPhone and iPad set: 20, 29, 40, 60, 76 and 83.5 point sizes at 1x, 2x and 3x as needed, plus the 1024px App Store icon. They come with a Contents.json so Xcode reads them as an App Icon set.
Which Android icon sizes do I get?
+
ic_launcher.png at 48, 72, 96, 144 and 192 pixels for mdpi, hdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi and xxxhdpi, plus a 512 x 512 icon for the Google Play listing.
Why are my iOS icons filled with a solid color?
+
Apple does not accept App Store icons with transparency. Any see-through area is filled with white or black, your choice. Android icons keep transparency.
Do I need to round the corners myself?
+
No. iOS applies its own rounded mask, so give it a full square image. Don't add rounded corners or a drop shadow to the source.
Does this make Android adaptive icons?
+
It makes the classic ic_launcher.png set, which every Android version accepts. If you want adaptive icons with separate foreground and background layers, create those in Android Studio's Image Asset tool.
