Frequently asked questions

Does this show Aurebesh letters?

+

It shows the letter names, such as Aurek for a and Besh for b. Aurebesh has no standard Unicode block, so the glyphs only appear with a dedicated font, and none is bundled here. The names are exactly what you need to look each glyph up or type it in an Aurebesh font.

What are the special letters?

+

Aurebesh has eight extra letters for common sounds: Cherek (ch), Enth (eo), Onith (oo), Krenth (kh), Nen (ng), Orenth (ae), Shen (sh) and Thesh (th). The tool uses them when it sees those pairs, so ship becomes Shen-Isk-Peth.

Is Aurebesh a different language?

+

No. Aurebesh is an alphabet for writing English, so there is nothing to translate, only to transliterate. That is why this tool maps letters one by one.

How do I decode letter names?

+

Switch to Aurebesh to English and type the names separated by hyphens, with spaces between words, for example Cresh-Aurek-Besh.

Is my text sent to a server?

+

No. Everything runs in your browser.
