Why use PixelTools to convert jfif to png

Opens .jfif directly

Drop a .jfif file as it came from the browser. No need to rename it first.

Lossless output

PNG does not compress away detail, so the converted file looks exactly like the original image.

Batch conversion

Convert many JFIF files at once and download them together as a ZIP.

Private by design

Everything runs locally in your browser. No upload, no account.

Three steps to convert jfif to png

  1. 1

    Drop the JFIF file

Drag in the .jfif file you saved from the web. It is read in your browser and never uploaded.

  2. 2

    Decode and re-save as PNG

The JPEG data inside the file is decoded to pixels and written out as a lossless PNG at the same size.

  3. 3

    Download the PNG

Save the .png file or download a batch as a ZIP. It opens in any editor, document or upload form that accepts PNG.

Who converts JFIF to PNG?

A .jfif file is a normal JPEG photo with an unusual extension, and plenty of apps will not open it. Turning it into a PNG gets it into tools that expect PNG.

Images saved from Chrome or Edge

Right-click saves on some sites give you a .jfif file that Windows apps and uploaders reject. A PNG opens everywhere.

Slides and documents

PowerPoint, Google Slides and Word handle PNG without fuss. Converting a .jfif first avoids a blank or missing picture.

Editing in design tools

Lossless PNG is a safer starting file for repeated edits in Figma, Canva or Photoshop than saving another JPEG generation.

Upload forms that list PNG only

Some forms and marketplaces accept PNG but not .jfif. Convert once and the upload goes through.

Frequently asked questions

What is a JFIF file?

+

JFIF is JPEG File Interchange Format. It is the same kind of image as a .jpg, just saved with a .jfif extension. Chrome and Edge sometimes save web images this way.

Why convert JFIF to PNG instead of JPG?

+

Pick PNG when the app you are using accepts PNG but not JPG, or when you plan to edit the image repeatedly. PNG is lossless, so saving it again does not add new compression damage. If you only need the file to open normally, JFIF to JPG is the simpler fix.

Will the PNG look better than the JFIF?

+

No. A JFIF is already compressed, and that detail is gone. The PNG keeps exactly what the JFIF shows without losing more, but it cannot bring back lost detail.

Why is the PNG much bigger?

+

PNG stores pixels without throwing detail away, so photos are usually several times larger than the JPEG-based original. That is normal.

Does it keep transparency?

+

JFIF images have no transparency, so the PNG is fully opaque. Nothing is added or removed.

Is my file uploaded?

+

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the file stays on your device.
