Frequently asked questions
Is Simlish a real language?
+
No. Simlish is nonsense speech, performed by voice actors to sound like a language without being one. Only a few phrases, such as sul sul for hello and dag dag for goodbye, are widely repeated.
How does this tool make Simlish?
+
Known phrases are replaced first. Every other word is rewritten as a few consonant and vowel syllables, using a fixed rule based on the word's spelling and length. The same word always gives the same result.
Can I translate Simlish back to English?
+
Only the known phrases. Generated gibberish cannot be reversed, because it never contained the original meaning.
Why do different words sometimes sound alike?
+
With a small set of syllables, two different words can occasionally land on similar sounds. That is true of real Simlish too.
Does my text leave my device?
+
No. Everything runs in your browser.
