Everything you need to blur faces online

Automatic face detection

A client-side AI model finds every face in your photo the moment you upload it, drawing a blur box around each one automatically.

Drag, resize, and fine-tune

Move any box by dragging it, resize it with a slider, and adjust blur strength per face — from a light blur to a fully unrecognizable smudge.

Manual box fallback

Missed a face, or want to redact something else entirely — a license plate, a badge, a screen? Add a box manually anywhere on the image.

100% private — no upload

Face detection and blurring both run entirely in your browser. Your photo is never sent to a server, stored, or seen by anyone but you.

Instant results

Detection and blurring complete in seconds for most photos, with no account, no watermark, and no waiting on a queue.

Works on any device

Fully responsive with touch-friendly controls — blur faces from your phone, tablet, or desktop without installing anything.

Three steps to a face-blurred photo

  1. 1

    Upload your photo

Drag and drop an image onto the page, click to browse, or paste from your clipboard. Faces are detected automatically as soon as the image loads.

  2. 2

    Adjust the blur boxes

Drag a box to reposition it, use the sliders to resize it or change blur strength, or add a box manually for any face the detector missed.

  3. 3

    Download your photo

Click Download, then save as PNG, JPG, or WebP. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is the blur face tool free?

+

Yes, completely free with no limits. Blur as many photos as you want. No subscription, no account, no watermark.

Does this tool upload my photo to a server?

+

No. Face detection and blurring both happen entirely in your browser using a client-side AI model and the Canvas API. Your photo never leaves your device.

How accurate is the automatic face detection?

+

The detector finds most clearly visible faces, including at an angle or partially obscured. For faces it misses — very small, heavily shadowed, or turned away — you can add a blur box manually in one click.

Can I blur something that isn't a face?

+

Yes. Use "Add box manually" to place a blur box anywhere on the image — over a license plate, a name badge, a screen, or any other detail you want to hide.

How is this different from the regular Blur tool?

+

The Blur tool applies one blur effect to the entire image. Blur Face detects and blurs only specific regions — faces or manually placed boxes — while keeping the rest of the photo sharp.

Can I undo a blur box or change how strong it is?

+

Yes. Click any box to select it, then use the sliders to change its size or blur strength, drag it to reposition it, or remove it entirely with the remove button.

What image formats are supported?

+

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos). You can export the result as PNG (lossless), JPG, or WebP.

Can I use the blurred photo commercially?

+

PixelTools does not claim any rights over images you process. The blurred output is your file to use however you like, subject to any rights the original photo's owner holds.
